Institut für Pflegewissenschaft

The Institute of Nursing Science conducts diverse, extensive research that is important in nursing practice. The annual care quality questionnaire in Austrian healthcare facilities collects data on the frequency of care problems, quality indicators and measures applied for bedsores, incontinence, falls and pain.

Other multidisciplinary research is concerned with (new) technologies/use of robots and virtual reality in the healthcare sector.

Staff conduct extensive research with a variety of approaches on the topics of malnutrition, obesity and care dependency in order to develop and test questionnaires, assessment tools and evidence-based action recommendations.

Staff expertise and the wide range of topics provide a good basis for research-led teaching in the degree programs and different professional development programs.

Christa Lohrmann

"Our diverse, care-related research, its findings and their applications in healthcare facilities closely link research and practice and are emphasized in our teaching, thereby contributing to an optimization of nursing."

Christa Lohrmann, Chair of Institute
